The 2017 Honda Civic Sport touring will definitely do well for Honda as the predecessors have exceedingly done well in both comparison tests and sales charts in a very competitive compact segment.
The design is very striking especially in the very attractive shade of sonic grey pearl which works well with the lines of the car. There is a deep aggressive lower intake for the front bumper with full LED headlights in the sports trim.
It comes with very beautiful 18 inch wheels with directional design and wrapped up in 235 series rubber. The tires are the ones you will find in the previous generations of the Honda. The overall profile of the hatch back can look strange especially from the rear, reason being it is slightly taller than the Sedan which might not augur well with car enthusiasts.
There are centre-mounted dual exhausts on the sport touring. You get a subtle integrated spoiler with a split view in the back which gives the 2017 Honda Civie Sport Touring a cross over look. Overall, the hatch is a little bit shorter than the Sedan and Little bit taller than the coupe.
You get Honda’s smart key access only if you go for the higher trims. The smart key comes with a remote start which can be activated by the push of a button.
In the interior, you get black leather with contrasting stitching with carbon fibre trim. The hatch back feels like a sedan when you get in with a sporty feel. The door is compact and solid when it is shut. The higher trim gives you LED display while the lower ones give you red illumination.
The specially tuned exhaust makes the engine sound racy. The 1.5 ltr turbo comes standard in all Honda civic vehicles. You get a premium audio system which comes with 12 speakers. Honda has greatly improved with their speakers. The door panel is soft touch with the same stitching you get on the seats.
The windows are only one touch for the front. The steering is leather-wrapped with pedal shifters with Honda sensing as standard. For safety, you get active link assist, adaptive cruise control with low speed follow, collusion mitigation breaking and road departure mitigation breaking.
There is an updated head unit in the 2017 Honda Civic Sport touring. It is called the Honda link head unit and is 7 inches in size and features both android auto and apple car play. You get a new navigation screen with very impressive touch response. The navigation system is quick, responsive and is very easy to use. You also get the standard backup camera when you put the vehicle on reverse. There is trajectory with three views but there are no parking sensors.
You get 3 level heated seats on the front and there is decent storage room in the front which can fit a 7 inch phone. The glove compartment is decent given that is a Honda Civic. You also get a standard sun roof in the EX and higher trims.
In the back seats, you get the same consistent leather quality that is in the front seats. There are heated seats in the bottom. The leg room is decent but not the best you will get in a sedan or its competitors. The hatch model gives you the most cargo space. You get 25cubic ft of space and 46 if you fold the seats.
You only get one engine choice for the hatch back model that is the 1.5 ltr direct injection turbo-charge. This produces 180 HP and 162lb Torque. Fuel economy is very strong. You get 30 MPG in the city and 36 on the higher. It is recommended you use premium gas to get the 180HP but you can always use regular gas.
You will hear more engine noise because the exhaust is free flowing. The driving dynamics on the car are surprisingly pleasant. The steering is super quick and the car changes direction immediately when the wheel is turned. The 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring excels when it comes to balance, handling, ride and steering response. It could easily beat the Mazda 3 when it comes to performance.
